Tips and Tricks

I will be adding beauty tips and tricks ever so often. These are some of the best tips I've learned from other beauty professional, and what I've learned on the job.

Have you ever had a blemish and makeup won't stick to it?

There is a product called New Skin it is a liquid bandage product will do the trick. You can paint it over the blemish and when dry apply some concealer. The concealer should have a green corrective color to fix red blemishes. If the blemish is overly red try patting on some Visine prior to the New Skin. This will take away the redness. This is a great trick on those big nights out when you need to have that flawless complection!

One of the questions I get often are, "How do I cover the dark areas under my eyes?"

Well I think the misconception a lot of people have is that the yellowish concealer you find in most drug stores should cover everyone's under eyes. This really goes back to color theory. You need to basically cancel out the prominent color. Lighter skin individuals have a violet undertone under their eyes. The opposite color of violet is yellow, so most yellow concealers will do the trick.

Now for the rest of us who have that dark bluish/black under eyes (Thanks to my Italian heritage), you need to use an orange/peach colored concealer. You can find these at Sephora and even in some local drug stores. The peach color really gets rid of that dark color under your eyes to even everything out. Try it out you'll look younger in no time.

And don't forget to moisturize under your eyes before you conceal or you will emphasize those fine lines we all want to forget about.

Have you ever had your eye shadow or pressed powder crumble on you?

This happens a lot to me, traveling with my makeup kit. A trick I learned is to put a few drops of alcohol (not vodka) and pat the eyeshadow or powder with a paper towel. Voila good as new.

Hope this helps,
