Television: "Ugly Betty makeup"

Fashion isn't the only trend Ugly Betty is setting. The show has set the standard for TV makeup as well. Each episode I'm amazed at the gorgeous glamorous styles I see. Vanessa Williams to Rebbecca Romijn put their best face forward for the camera. Now if you want to look like you work at Mode, and are on the cutting edge of style here are some tips:

Becki Newton, Amanda's character is supposed to be a lowly receptionist but what glamor she portrays. Defined bone structure really makes her face beautiful, but if you don't have the face of a twenty-three year old size double zero there is help. Contouring can easily change the shape of any face. Use your blush or angled brush with a face powder at least a few shades darker than your usual color or even a bronzer, and powder the areas you see on Becki's photo. You will want to contour the sides of the nose, jawline, hollows of your cheeks and even the crease of your eyes. Make sure to blend well as you do not want any lines of demarcation. Follow up with a light powder highlight on top of your shadows. This includes the ridge of your nose, top of the jawline, cheek bones, and your frontal bone below your eyebrows. Don't over do it and keep it natural.

Interesting Rebbecca Romijn plays a post-op transvestite, but I have never seen one that looks this good! Whoever her hypothetical surgeon is he deserves an award. That aside she really is a gorgeous woman. To duplicate her look keep to natural pink lipsticks with a touch of gloss. Eyes should be lined well and smudged with a great mascara. Her blue eyes always are striking, but even if you have brown eyes use an eyeshadow that brings out the color in them. Burgundies and some warm gold and bronze tones go great with brown eyes.

Not everyone at Mode is in their prime years, and some of them have quite a presence. Vanessa Williams is a woman that never ages. She has such striking features. I'm sure being an ex beauty pageant contestant has taught her a lot. If you are an older woman and think you can't pull off glamor looks here are some tips.

One complaint I hear often are droopy eyelids and how to do makeup for them. What I often tell women is to look in the mirror straight ahead and using a darker crease color put a few dots where your crease should be. Using those dots as guides you can blend in a natural looking crease. From there you can add a nice lid color and a highlight above your new crease. This will give the eye a more three dimensional look and take years off. Also if your lips have thinned out with age use a natural pencil and slightly overdraw your lips. Top with a pink or natural shade to finish them off.

Next time you put on that amazing outfit don't forget your makeup needs the same attention as your dress.
