Television: "Katherine McPhee American Idol"

Katherine McPhee 2

This year's American Idol females have worn beautiful makeup styles, but I have to say I loved Katherine McPhee's makeup the other night. She was on the show singing her single "Something". The song was good but it's Katherine's style that really has me interested. She wore a simple ponytail and her makeup was done just right to look glamorous but not overdone. A lot of the young girls are a bit too glitter heavy for my taste, so it's nice to see a clean look on the show.

To achieve this look start with a sheer liquid foundation. Her skin is dewy and it glows. You can mix some moisturizer into the foundation to get this effect. Make sure not to over powder. I like to lightly powder the t zone area and let the blush set the rest.

Use a light shade on your lids, and follow up with a darker purple or dark brown as your contour color. Shade this color into the crease and outer portion of your eyes. Blend the outer portions in an upwards motion to open up the eyes. Next apply a black thickening mascara to your lashes.

For your cheeks choose a dusty rose or a pink shade for your blush. Contour your cheeks with the blush and try to use a shimmery shade to make your cheeks pop.

Finish off with a darker pink lip color and skip the gloss on this one.

For your hair start with a side part and pull the hair into a lower ponytail. Using a large curling iron, about 1 1/4" size, curl the pony tail in 1" sections. Lastly spritz a shine hairspray like "Garnier Frutis Shine Spray" to give your hair a healthy youthful style.
