I was really excited to hear Vanessa Paradis would be the new face for Miu Miu's autumn/winter campaign. I wasn't sure what to expect after Kirsten Dunst's ads appeared for the spring. Dunst wasn't the type of spokesperson I would think could carry of a great handbag. Her images though were absolutely stunning. Koodos to the stylists that transformed her into a supermodel.

The colors they used in Kirsten's campaigns were surreal. They set up a very Parisian Bohemian atmosphere, with her blood red lips and porcelain skin tone. In terms of high fashion I felt Kirsten's style was more about color than it was about cutting edge fashion makeup or hair. Against her pale skin the red hues of her nails, bows in her hair to her lips really showcase the use of bold colors to portray an emotion.

It looks like they took a totally different direction with Vanessa Paradis' shoot. I know that this new direction for the fall have models in high fashion tracksuits and swim caps. An interesting approach for a fall campaign when you expect them to be layered in subdued colors. Vanessa has such a gorgeous bone structure to her, they worked with these features. The handbags seem to be more of an accessory than the showcase for her image stories. I love how they have gone with a darker merlot colored lip for her. Using these cool purples and pinks they carried her blush up and over the cheekbone onto the temple area that transitions from her heavily sculpted cheekbone. This is a popular runway style I see a lot. The eyes are more neutral as to not compete with the bold lip color choice, but still have definition. I'm also loving her free flowing hair. There isn't a need for a lot of product to pull this off. She has many curls that are brushed out to create body, but you can still run your fingers through the hair.

While Kirsten's sets a mood I feel Vanessa's image has a carefree attitude to it. Almost as if this handbag takes away the worries of everyday life. Both campaigns are very strong and I can't wait to see what Miu Miu does next.
