Celebrity Style: "Oscar Red Carpet Looks"
This year's Oscar's fashion had two major colors...red and purple! From Heidi Klum to Cate Blanchett, they both chose wonderful vibrant colors for their dresses. Their makeup on the other hand was classic red carpet style. Natural eyes to a soft lip made up many of the looks this year.
When you have millions of eyes and cameras on you the most important makeup factor is a great foundation. If it's a tanned glowing look like Heidi has, to a matte even look which Cate chose to go with, it needs to be flawless. Well moisturized skin and a foundation that is light yet offers good coverage is the way to go.
With a great foundation a classic red carpet look depends on a healthy looking blush. Many went with cool pinks to soft purples. For these looks the blush must be well blended and emphasize the apples of the cheeks.
No matter how soft the look is the one piece of makeup where there are no limits are the lashes. Most red carpet styles have very natural eye shadow designs. Lashes on the other hand are dark black, full and lengthened.
To tie into these cool colored looks, pinks were all the rage for lips this year. Heidi, Cate and Jessica Alba all chose a pink lip with a hint of gloss. This type of lip works for many women. It's soft, feminine yet youthful.
Though I didn't see any extreme makeup designs I have to say my favorite look of the evening was on Katherine Heigl.
She went with a bold defined lip. The rest of her makeup design is played down but her lips really make a statement.
No matter the design the secret to any good red carpet makeup is be glamorous yet look effortless.
