Celebrity Style: Tribute to Farrah Fawcett the icon

I was so sad to hear of Farrah Fawcett's death. She was such an inspiration to many and an original Charlie's Angel. Her feathered hair was classic, and the style creeps it's way back in today's trends. It's a great look to frame the face and bring back a bit of that '70s flare.

The 1970s for makeup was a time to show off your tan. The matte pale complexions of the previous decades was over. Bronzed natural skin was all the rage. Corals, peaches, and coppers, were in every makeup line at the time. I often think of beach style and exciting glamor for this decade. This look also works for the summer months. Farrah liked these warm shades at the time and brought it up a notch with a full lined eye. To get her look here are some tips:

  • Feather your hair with a curling iron. Instead of curling to get a spiral, curl the hair away from the face and set with hairspray. A large curling iron 1.5" - 2" works best for this look. Focus on just curling the ends so your hair flicks away and doesn't fall from a heavy curl.
  • Choose warm foundations or go with a great warm bronzer. You want your skin to glow and look like you've spent a week on the beach. Illumizers like Smashbox's Artificial Light and Make up Forever's Shine On powders are great accents for this look.
  • Blush should be in the warm family. Stick to peaches, warm browns, and apricots.
  • For your eyes copper and bronze shimmer shadows look gorgeous. Line your upper lash line and halfway on your lower lash line with a black pencil or gel liner. Coat with two layers of black mascara.
  • Finish the lips with a sheer peach or apricot lip gloss. Shiny lips were very trendy in the '70s.
